Location Location Location
It occurred to me recently the importance of location. Where you reside. Not to be too cliche, as everyone seems to think this aswell, but where you are and what is near you can have a massive impact on your mental health. At the moment I’m living around 3 miles from the city centre. For any other cities that would be awesome, but I live in Coventry. Not to say I don’t like Coventry, but I am also on my placement year at University. Essentially meaning my friends are now scattered all over the country.
I know what you’re going to say, I can Skype and text them. This is true although, weirdly for a technology guy, I need the physical day-to-day interactions to keep me happy. I think throughout this year I have become more and more lonely. My closest friend has been with me, always available for a chat or a message, but it’s just not the same. It feels as though I’m so physically far from anyone who actually cares.
Don’t be concerned about me, I’m always fine. I’m set to move out of my current place and move back into the city centre with my friends, which is going to help a lot. Until then, I guess this blog post might help someone identify why they’re feeling so lonely.
